The citizens of Kohima city and tourists today witnessed impressive Hornbill Carnival Parade under the theme “Heralding Diversity” as part of 25th Hornbill Festival 2024.
This Hornbill Carnival Parade featured cosplay, Miss Nagaland 2024 pageants and achievers, flash mob dancers, skate boarders, cyclists, public carriers, Assam Rifles Bag Piper band, Nagaland Police Brass Band, Late. Neikezhakuo tableau.

Apart from 18 Naga tribes, other contingents who joined the parade includes; Gorkha, Tibetan community, Kabui, Sikkim, Hindu Kalyan Sameti, Punjabi Bhangra and Muslim.
The contingents march to the street of Hornbill Night Carnival from Dziiyiekese to Razhii point, main town Kohima.
Organised by Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) in association with Nagaland Tourism and Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry along with other partners, this Hornbill Carnival Parade was graced by Jigme Thinlye Namgyal, Consul General- Kingdom of Bhutan (Royal Bhutanese Consulate General), Guwahati.
Earlier, KVYO President Er Medozhazo Rutsa delivered carnival parade message wile Kevichalie Metha, pastor, Peraciezie Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings.
KVYO President said that KVYO host this spectacular event that celebrates the vibrant cultural heritage of Nagaland and brings together communities from all corners of our incredible country.”
“As we gather here today, we are reminded of the rich tapestry of traditions, languages, and stories that make up our diverse nation. The Hornbill Carnival is not just a festival; it is a symbol of unity and a platform for cultural exchange. It serves as a reminder that while we may come from different backgrounds, we share a common bond as citizens of India, and we are all part of this beautiful mosaic that is our homeland,” he said.
The parade today is a celebration of our roots, our history and our future, Er Rutsa said adding that it is a testament to the strength of our unity in diversity, where we come together to celebrate our differences and learn from one another.

“This year, we are thrilled to see participation from various states, each bringing their unique flavors and experiences to our carnival. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to engage, interact and build lasting relationships with one another. The Hornbill Carnival is a celebration of life, where laughter, joy and the spirit of camaraderie fill the air,” he said.
As we embark on this journey through the parade, let us remember the importance of preserving our cultural heritage while embracing the future. We must ensure that the stories of our ancestors are passed down to the next generation, instilling in them a sense of pride and belonging.
