Shocked at slow pace on 4-lane work, Gov to take up the matter with Gadkari

Dimapur, Dec 7 (NPN): Nagaland Governor R.N. Ravi, who has been closely monitoring the progress of four-lane road construction on National Highway 29 (from Dimapur to Kohima) held a review meeting on the ongoing road projects with senior state government and National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) officials at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall Raj Bhavan on December 5.

According to PRO Raj Bhavan, the Governor expressed shock and serious displeasure to NHIDCL officials “for not keeping their assurances” to ensure that the road construction works for the four-lane on NH 29 would be speeded up.



According to the press release, the Governor noted that the four-lane work was scheduled for completion by August 2019, but even after 15 months of “overshooting the deadline, the completion of the project is not in sight.

Further, the Governor pointed out that tardy progress was despite the fact that union minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari taking keen interest for early completion for which he(Gadkari) had created and office of the Regional Director NHIDCL at Kohima for speedy execution of the work.

According to PRO, the Governor reminded the NHIDCL about how the people of Nagaland have been suffering due to lack of interest shown by NHIDCL. Further, the Governor informed that he would be taking up the matter with the union minister MoRTH.

The state government was represented by chief secretary J.Alam IAS, DG Police T. John Longkumer IPS, other senior officials including senior officials of NHIDCL.



It may be recalled that the NHIDCL, during a review meeting called by Governor on November 5 assured the latter of completing the construction of ongoing the two-lane road under Kohima along the four-lane Dimapur-Kohima road before December 15.

Ravi had asked contractors involved in constructing roads under NHIDCL to expedite ongoing works and achieve the targets as assured by them.
