Kohima’s Hornbill Night Carnival attracts thousands of revelers

The Hornbill Night Carnival under the aegis of Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) as part of  25th Hornbill Festival 2024 continues to attract thousands of revelers, both locals and tourists.

Talking to section media persons, KCCI’s Hornbill Night Carnival organizing committee convenor Ruokuobeizo Kire said that on a daily average, 2000 to 3000 revelers, which includes the locals, domestic and foreign tourists visits the Carnival from Y Junction to Razhu point, Main town Kohima. 

He said that there are 176 stalls selling different items including ethnic local cuisines, fast food, inter-continental etc.

Beside the stalls, the Task Force for Music &Arts  (TaFMA) has been engaging upcoming local artists to showcase their talent through music platform around KCCI Control room in Old NST, Kohima.

A prime attraction for the revelers this year has been Hornbill Parade on the 7th day conducted by Kohima Village Youth Organisation in collaboration with Tourism Department and KCCI.

Kire also informed that since the first day of carnival on December 1, there has been no untoward incident as KCCI imposed this Hornbill Night Carnival as alcohol free zone.

“Everything has been peaceful with people enjoying the 10-day long carnival and we believe nothing bad would occur till December 10,” Kire said.

He also requested the vehicle owners parking their cars along the stretch of the Carnival to re-park by 4:30 PM so that the vendors can set up the stalls, which starts at 5: 00 PM and ends at 9:00 PM daily.
