DIMAPUR, APRIL 17 (MExN): YouthNet organized the official launching and orientation of YouthNet Incubation Centre Cohort 2 on April 15 at YouthNet Incubation Centre, YouthNet Dimapur Office.
The Cohort consists of 33 startups and entrepreneurs from various sectors ranging from food processing, handloom and handicrafts, tourism, agri, logistics and others. The event was graced by Hekani Jakhalu, MLA & Advisor, Industries & Commerce; Director of Department of Industries & Commerce, A Temjen Jamir; and Erik Azulay, Director, Alliance for Commercialization and Innovation Research (ACIR).
Jakhalu lamented on the importance and reality of an entrepreneur’s journey, while highlighting on the importance to scale and grow ones business entrepreneur’s need to get their compliances right from the beginning. Hekani also congratulated the Startup Nagaland team effort in curating the entrepreneurs journey thus far.
Director of Department of Industries & Commerce, A Temjen Jamir highlighted on the Startup Nagaland Policy and the various benefits and opportunities that will help startups thrive. He also highlighted on the progress made through the efforts of the department. The Department of Industries & Commerce, through the Startup Nagaland Policy, dedicated a grant of Rs 5 Lakhs to the Person With Disability Startup program to support entrepreneurs’ businesses, marking it the first Startup Incubation Program for PWD in North East India.
Erik Azulay, Director, Alliance for Commercialization and Innovation Research (ACIR) highlighted the importance having 100% passion if one wants to really be an entrepreneur. He also mentioned that entrepreneurship is a lonely hard journey but once someone makes it there is no going back.
The event also saw two workshops conducted on various topics, including on the vital aspects of becoming a scalable and sustainable business and branding, by Erik Azulay, Director, Alliance for Commercialization and Innovation Research (ACIR) and Sinlo Kemp, Creative Director and Brand Designer. The guests shared their insights on the importance of entrepreneurship and highlighted the various benefits and opportunities available for startups to thrive.
YouthNet Incubation Centre (YIC) aims to support and nurture innovative entrepreneurs and startups in their pursuit to become scalable and sustainable business. YIC offers a practical and engaging program to help entrepreneurs build business successfully. YIC is the first Business Incubator in the State under the Startup Nagaland Policy 2019, Department of Industries and Commerce. It launched the first Startup Incubation Program for PWDs in North East India.
YIC offers a practical and engaging program to help entrepreneurs build business successfully which may include but not limited to mentoring, coaching, networking opportunities, office space, and access to funding sources.
