World Sunday School day celebrated across Nagaland

Along with the rest of the world, churches across the state celebrated World Sunday School Day on November 5 with various programmes and activities.

CBCMHK: The Sunday School Department of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers’ Hill Kohima (CBCMHK) celebrated the World Sunday School Day and 9th graduation day under the theme ‘nurturing in the light of the word.’

During the occasion, a total of 85 students from the class of Knight Templars graduated from the Sunday school to the youth department.

Senior pastor of CBCMHK, Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, gave away the graduate certificates and pronounced a special prayer for the students.

In his message, Vevo told the graduating students to remember to worship God, serve Him always and defend their faith even as they go out of the Sunday school. Saying that they are graduating as children of Gods, he encouraged them to go out with confidence that they are the child of God. 

He added they should go out and face challenges and struggles of life and come back conquering them.. 

Over 1300 children celebrated the occasion and fellowship together through song presentation, reading Bible verses, dances, drama, love feast etc at CBCMHK.

BBNK: The Botsa Baptist Nhichuko Krotho (BBNK) celebrated World Sunday School with the theme “Our Lord’s Prayer” Mathew 6:9-13. 

Dozhü-ü Rio, as the theme speaker, spoke about the beauty and power of the Lord’s prayer as being gifted to humankind by Jesus Himself.

She delved into the prayer and discussed the opening line, “Our Father who art in Heaven,” as conveying the truth of God being the Lord of all lords and the King of all kings. 

Further dissecting the prayer, she said the prayer highlights our past, present, and future references as well as the aspects of forgiveness, trust, and surrendering our desires to God.

According to Rio, prayer is the most sacred and powerful medium of communication with God, and both parents and children should live a prayerful life. 

Although saying a prayer is easy, living a prayerful life can be a challenge, especially during challenging times, she pointed out. Nonetheless, Rio said, Christians should develop a deep connection with God by making prayer as a habit at all times.

Rio advised parents to teach their children to pray by demonstrating God’s love through their actions. 

Meanwhile, she also gave a brief history of World Sunday School day as originating from Robert Raikes, who started the first Sunday School in Gloucester, England, in 1780.

During the celebration, Sunday school children presented songs, Bible readings, choreography, a skit on the effects of mobile phones, musical piece etc.

TVBC: The Tening Village Baptist Church Sunday School department celebrated World Sunday School with the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) team staffs on November 5.

On the occasion, resource person from NBCC, Rev T Nagi exhorted that society need to be bold enough to serve the Lord and come out with willingly to live in integrity and holiness. Nagi also said that one should remain in constant vigil in life’s journey and to be determined and put God first in whatever one do. He also encouraged the local parents to focus more on the future of their children.

On the occasion, Tening Village Baptist Church Men’s department acknowledged all the Sunday school children by giving notebook and a pen.

From the enrollment of 325 Sunday school children, 26 students graduated from the senior class of Sunday school Christian education department. The graduating certificates were handed over by Rev Ramriwang, Pastor TVBC.

CBCK: The Children Ministry of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) today observed World Sunday School Day cum  Graduation Day under the theme “Nurturing the light of the world” ( Deuteronomy 6:2).

98 Sunday school children have been graduated this year to the youth ministry. 

Awarding of certificate and prayer was done by Rev Vikuo Rhi, pastor CBCK.

Jodovelii Shijo, assistant superintendent Children Ministry was the speaker at the graduation ceremony.

Chinehiilii Rhakho, former director, Children & Education Department, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council was the speaker of the morning service.

Rev Dr Kevekhalo Lasuh, senior pastor CBCK pronounced pastoral prayer.

Secretary report was given by Wekhrope Akami.
