CM Rio thanks Tamil Nadu govt for land allotment
Chennai, August 3 (MExN): The Government of Tamil Nadu has allotted 10,000 sq ft land to the Government of Nagaland for free for setting up of a guest house to accommodate the patients from Nagaland visiting the Christian Medical College (CMC) campuses in Vellore and Ranipet districts for treatment, the PTI news agency reported on Tuesday.
The site is located at Rabakkam Village in Wallaja Taluk of Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu.
According to PTI, Nagaland Chief Minister thanked his Tamil Nadu counterpart M K Stalin for his gesture in providing land for free.
In a letter addressed to Stalin, Rio said, “this will provide the much needed help to the Naga patients travelling to Vellore to avail medical facilities,” it said.
Mention may be made that earlier on February this year, Rio had written to Stalin underscoring the problems and hardship faced by Naga patients seeking medical treatment in Vellore and Chennai. Stating that lack of proper accommodation was one of the main problems, Rio had sought allotment of land.
This was followed by a follow-up meeting between Minister Tongpang Ozukum and Stalin along with the Secretary PWD Housing, Tamil Nadu, member Secretary of Chennai Municipal Development Authority (CMDA) and also officials of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB), on February 14.
