‘Vaccination Festival’: Over 5000 doses given on day 1 in Nagaland

A total of 5127 doses were administrated on day-I of the ‘Tika Utsav’ (Vaccination Festival) in Nagaland on April 11, informed preliminary data shared by state health official.

As per the data, the special vaccination drive started in all districts on Sunday except in Kohima. It included sensitisation at various churches and setting up vaccination sites near their premises for easy access.

Accordingly, on the first day, Mon recorded highest vaccination at 1406, followed by 935 in Zunheboto and 759 in Mokokchung.

Vaccinations in other districts in descending order were: Wokha-739, Peren-514, Dimapur-290, Tuensang-283, Longleng-144, Kiphire-50, and Phek-7.

According to sources, due to some issue in Kohima, the festival started only on April 12 with setting up of a COVID Vaccination Centre (CVC) at Nagaland Civil Secretariat for vaccination of officers and staff who are above 45 years of age.

Similar initiatives are being made to cater eligible staff or employees of other offices in Kohima. The DRDA Conference Hall is another designated CVC for vaccination staff from 16 offices on April 14.

Nearly 30 lakh doses administrated across India

Meanwhile, day-I of the four-day ‘Vaccination Festival’ (April 11-14), described by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “beginning of second major war against Corona,” saw administration of nearly 30 lakh doses across India.

Nagaland also joined the nationwide festival by setting up CVCs at workplaces and plans for intensifying Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities during the mentioned period.
