Unfair to blame govt for everything: Rio

Dimapur, April 24 (MExN): The Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio was of the opinion that it is unfair to put the blame on the government for any wrong. Rio made the comment in response to a query with regard to the Rising People’s Party (RPP) alleging a nexus between the government and fuel adulteration in Nagaland. He was posed the question as he made his way out of a programme after inaugurating a newly commissioned weather-cum-piezometer station at 4th Mile, today.

He went on the defensive, stating, “The government cannot watch everybody’s kitchen… blaming the government is unfair.” He said that the public should rather be aware and “give report so that the government will take action” before being hurriedly escorted away by his personal security personnel.

Earlier on April 21, the RPP exposed a suspected fuel adulteration den at Ghorapatti, Dimapur, supposedly fronting as a truck garage, while claiming that it was part of a wider network being run under the patronage of the government, the Naga Political Groups and even the civil society organizations. Two FIRs were filed on April 22, in this connection, after the police failed to respond to a verbal complaint on April 21. The party also alleged the same people, accused and facing trial in an earlier case, dating to June 2016, have been continuing with the fuel adulteration racket with impunity. No names were disclosed, however.
