ULB councillors from Kohima, Chiephobozou vow best service for urban populace

The ULB elected councillors from Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and Chiephobozou Town Council (CTC) assured to extend their best service for the welfare and upliftment of the urban populace.

Speaking on behalf of elected councillors at the felicitation programme of ULB elected councillors organised by Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Kohima Region here today in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, an elected councillor Thenusoü Sekhose Yhome from KMC said, “We will strive to make Kohima municipal areas a model city by initiating partnership, engaging community, adopting technology & innovation, capacity training, financial management and sustainable practices.” She assured that the councillors will take up the challenges to improve the rating of Kohima smart city and compete with the rest of the country.

She said that 198 women participated in the recent ULB election in which 102 were elected.

Another elected councillor from KMC Neikhozo Suokhrie said “We want to work hand in hand with the government.” Soliciting blessings and support from the state government, Suokhrie said “We will always need your support and guidance in public service.” Stating, Kohima being the State capital, he requested the government to give special attention towards the KMC affairs.

Speaking on behalf of elected councillors from CTC, Kekhrieneinuo Zumvu said “We assure you all of our humble service and dedication to serve our people with our common vision to bring unity among the people and work together for a better future.” Also assuring to uphold NDPP party principle and manifesto, she said “We can foresee a ray of hope for change in our town.”

Mentionably, out of 19 wards under KMC, NDPP won majority with 13 seats. Under CTC, NDPP secured all 9 wards elected unopposed.

Salhoutuono Kruse, Minister for Horticulture & Women Resource Development and Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education & SCERT spoke on behalf of legislators at the felicitation programme.

“People have high expectations from you all,” Kruse said and stressed on the need to provide public facilities to the denizens of their respective wards.
Extending congratulation all the elected councillors, Dr Yhome said, “You have done all of us proud.” We will all work together, he added.

Earlier, Pastor Videkho Mekro, Central Christian Revival Church, D. Block invoked God’s blessing while NDPP Vocal Band, Kezhiah Semy and Thejasilie Sekhose presented special songs. The programme was chaired by Prasielie Pienyü, President NDPP Kohima Region & Chairman, NHHDC Ltd while vote of thanks was proposed by Kechangulie Kese, General Secretary, NDPP Kohima Region.
