Patkai, March 25 (MExN): Focusing on the college’s journey thus far and its vision for the future of education, the Golden Jubilee edition of the Tuisem A Shikshak Annual Lecture was organised by the Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) and the college’s Alumni Association on March 23.
Delivering the lecture on the topic “Dare to Dream: Patkai Christian College and the Future,” Dr Visakhonü Hibo, Principal of Japfü Christian College, highlighted the invaluable resources possessed by the institution and called for exploring them to the fullest without exploiting its ‘large green patches or deep-seated spiritual values’ following its motto, ‘Light And Truth.’
A press release from PCC Mass Comm also informed that she emphasised the role of educators in nurturing the next generation, urging them to go the extra mile in ensuring students’ holistic development.
Dr Hibo also underscored the importance of equipping students with practical skills and real-world knowledge, rather than relying solely on traditional rote learning methods.
“We have been ignorantly letting students earn their degrees via a rote system or the memorising culture with archived syllabi, which have no relevance to real-life situations or help assist in livelihood intervention schemes.”
“It is time we foster a culture of skill-based learning and innovation,” she added.
She further stated that the National Education Policy 2020 is likely to replace 50% of the existing education pattern to open avenues for students to be skill-ready for the long run.
Dwelling on the education status, Dr Hibo noted that the syllabus needs to meet the societal, economic, and ecological challenges facing our world today.
Given the human and natural resources at the disposal of the institution, PCC can become a leading institute spearheading quality education, research, and innovations, she said.
To this end, she also encouraged the faculty members to spare their time to research and writing so as to not only improve the college ranking but also contribute to body of knowledge that is important to improve the condition of our society.
Lanu Tzudir conferred Alumni Excellence award
Meanwhile, the college conferred the 3rd Annual Alumni Excellence Award to A Lanu Tzudir, presently the Zonal Secretary for the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI) – North East Zone.
Belonging the 1998 Batch, Tzudir was honoured for his ‘outstanding dedication and contribution towards student’s ministry in Nagaland and Northeast India.’
The award was instituted by the Alumni Association PCC (A) in 2022 to recognise the contributions made by former students in various fields.
Earlier, Rev Candid Sareo, former PRO of PCC (A), led the opening prayer, followed by a welcome address by Dr Renchumi Kikon.
