TR Zeliang to inspect key NH projects in 5 dists of Nagaland

Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister T R Zeliang, who is minister incharge of National Highway, will embark on four days tour from November 11 to inspect and assess the progress of key National Highway (NH) projects in five districts of the state (Phek, Kiphire, Tuensang, Shamator and Mokokchung).

The tour underscore the State Government’s commitment of enhancing road connectivity, boost economic growth and improving travel safety for the public, according to Media Cell of Deputy Chief Minister Office.

Throughout the tour, Zeliang will visit various projects sites, interact with engineers, NHIDCL officials, contractors and local organisations, it said. 

The tour is part of a greater initiative by the state government to prioritize road infrastructures development and improve transportation networks, enabling better accessibility for citizens and reducing commute time, it added.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that enhancing road infrastructures is a crucial pillar for economic growth and regional connectivity and represents tremendous investment in future growth.

The government is committed to ensuring completion of all Highways road projects with highest standard of quality, safety and efficiency, he maintained. 

The findings and observations during the tour will help in planning future road infrastructure projects and expediting current undertakings, the Media Cell stated.

Meanwhile, in a social media post, Zeliang informed that he will be accompanied by officers of NPWD (NH) during the tour.

Specifically, the tour will cover 5 districts –  Phek (702A), Kiphire-Shamator-Tuensang (NH-202) and Mokokchung (NH-702D & NH-02), in four days, he added, while looking forward for  a meaningful  interaction with the stakeholders, implementing agencies and contractors. 

The State Government, under the leadership of CM Neiphiu Rio and with “magnanimous” Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari “remains committed to developing sustainable roads in all parts of the State,” he maintained. 

Tour Focus
*    Project progress, review the construction timeline, and checking for any potential delays and evaluate whether each project is on track to meet scheduled completion time.

*    Assess whether each project meets National quality and safety standards to ensure durability and reliability of the road networks for the long term.

*    Observe how each project integrates environmental construction including proper drainage, green cover and eco friendly materials.
*    Meet local community members to gather feedback and address any issue raised regarding construction impact and accessibility.

*    At each project location, the Deputy Chief Minister will also conduct high level meeting with site engineers, contractors and local community to resolve any immediate bottlenecks.

*    Explore any additional support from the state government to facilitate the timely completion of the projects.
