New RCS Directorate building inaugurated

The newly constructed Directorate Building of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS), Nagaland was inaugurated today by Nagaland’s PHED & Cooperation Minister, Jacob Zhimomi. The new directorate building is located nearby new High Court Complex, Meriema.
Addressing the inaugural function, Zhimomi expressed happiness over getting a magnificent building and requested the department to judiciously utilize the same and deliver better service to the people and see that “there is progress and prosperity in Nagaland.”
The aspiration of the state government is to see family life is upgraded, personal life is polished and live a dignified and respectable life, he said.
He thanked Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for allocating sufficient fund to the department and paid off all the outstanding bills to the contractors for the project.
He maintained that the department has been playing a crucial role for middle and lower class family of the state.
The Minister stressed on the need to diversify its objective “so that maximum benefit goes to the local entrepreneurs.” He also stressed on the need to expand the horizon and give huge boost to the local producers “so that there is economic impact of the livelihood of the people in the state.
Stating that the GoI under the Ministry of Cooperation had introduced a scheme of rice and green storage’s throughout the country including Nagaland, the Minister said that same is going to be a huge opportunity for the cooperative societies linked to the Agri & Allied sector.
There are more than 8000 cooperative societies in the state, he said, adding that the department is going through a purification process. He urged the cooperative societies to associate with Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd and seize the opportunities and benefits through it.
The Minister was hopeful that the Nagas through the cooperative movement will be able to upgrade their socio- economic conditions starting from the family.
Zhimomi was accompanied by Information Technology & Communication, Economics & Statistics and Evaluation Advisor H Sethrongkyu Sangtam and MARCOFED Chairman M Chuba.
The programme was chaired by Zarenthung Ezung, Commissioner & Secretary, Cooperation, Government of Nagaland while vote of thanks was proposed by Additional RCS, Bendangla Longkumer. Executive Engineer, PWD, Housing Division-1, Kohima, Abija Khing informed that the building was constructed with a total cost Rs 19. 31 crore. The contractor was M/S Vilelie Khamo & Sons.
