Fazl Ali College-Sheribtse College Bhutan cultural exchange programme underway
MOKOKCHUNG, APRIL 4 (MExN): In a joint collaboration between Fazl Ali College Mokokchung and Sherubtse College, Royal University of Bhutan, a three-day cultural exchange programme on the theme-‘Strengthening Bonds, Celebrating Diversity’ got underway at FAC, Mokokchung on Wednesday.
A press release issued by FAC information and publicity cell said the first day of the programme opened on the theme “Cultural Odyssey: Discovering Diversity, Forging Friendships.” Delivering the opening address at the introductory session, Dr L. S Vinod Kumar, Vice-Principal, FAC welcomed the delegates from Sherubtse College and looked forward to fruitful interaction in the coming days.
An overview of the programme was given by Dr. E. Benrithung Patton, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, where he expressed the desire to begin lifelong learning and friendship between the institutions, with a holistic approach in discovering new horizons.
In his address, Kelzang Namgay, Lecturer, Department of Arts and Humanities, Coordinator to the Cultural Unit at Sherubtse College gave a highlight on the Bhutanese culture, which he remarked, is enriched with unique customs, traditions, clothing, and values. Namgay also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to explore and learn in collaboration with Fazl Ali College.
Highlights of the day include cultural presentations namely “Boedra: Traditional Bhutanese Dance” by Sherubtse College and a folk fusion song “Waro Rang” by FAC Students’ Union.
At the second session, Padmashree Awardee, T. Senka Ao conducted a workshop at Ketsangriju: An Indigenous Skills Training Centre at the college premises where indigenous skills were imparted to the students. The day ended with a ‘Hostel Campfire Nite’ which was hosted by FAC Hostel Committee.
