Adding recreational activities to the state capital Kohima, a magnificent Sokhriezie Park was inaugurated below Hotel Japfü.
Constructed by Tsütuonuomia Khel Council of Kohima village, it was formally inaugurated by Nagaland Minister for Rural Development Metsubo Jamir.
It was constructed through people’s contribution in the form of materials and free labour, VDB fund from the department of rural development- GIA, MGNREGA and SPMRM.
Addressing the gathering, the minister called upon the people to participate in the beautification process of the state capital, and ensure that Kohima become the most beautiful town in Nagaland and stay as an important tourist destination in the world.
Expressing happiness over the construction of Sokhriezie Park, he also acknowledged T Khel members for their generosity for which various developmental activities could be taken up.
Further, Jamir talked about the various hurdles faced in the development of Kohima town and suggested for proper planning in the development of the town.
He said that mental development and infrastructure development should go together for all round development.
Jamir added that all developmental activities must strive for sustainability so as to secure the future of the future generations.
Later, Jamir also inaugurated Sokhriezie Market and water disposal vehicle.
T Khel council chairman Thepfuvilie Suohu said that the construction of the park was a long desired dream of the people to preserve, beautify and contribute to the people of Nagaland.
Report on the construction of the park and market was given by K Neibou Sekhose, vice chairman (Planning) T Khel Council while T Khel Council vice chairman (Adm) vice president Helievi-o Solo proposed vote of thanks.
Sokhriezie market
A total of 135 rooms had been constructed in the Phase- I with funding from the monthly collection of old building tenants and contributions in the form of free labour.
The Tsütuonuomia Khel Council plans to construct another 235 rooms in the Phase- II. Further, it plans to construct another 135 rooms with 100 plus vehicle parking lot in Phase –III in partnership with the Kohima Smart City development Ltd.
T Khel Council informed that ten local youths have been appointed for the security of the tenants and coasters in this Sokhriezie Market,
In order to keep the market clean and environment friend, two waste disposal vehicles with ten sanitary personnel will be made available. Further, commercial opportunity for 250 local youths has been created.
