Ungma Village Council, Kosasanger Pusu Menden celebrated the second day of the Tsüngremmung festival at Babu Tzübu Amphitheatre with Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, as the special guest on August 2.
The NLA Speaker, while giving Tsüngremmung greetings, said that in this season of thanksgiving, we should seek blessings not just for now but also for the coming days. He congratulated the Kosasanger Pusu Menden for initiating and bringing changes within the Ao people, specifically mentioning their part in the recent inclusion of Changki village.
He said that there appears to be a gap in the number of people succeeding and excelling in all facets of society, and that the current generation must educate and inspire the upcoming generation. In addition, he emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in all matters pertaining to development.
Longkumer also stated that since the world is turning into a global village and the process of digital integration has begun in the state, it will also reach the villages, and that the villagers should also be prepared and ready to adapt and adopt all changes that come along.
Longkumer also made a comment about the Naga political issue, saying that although the people may have lost faith in it, they ought to keep in mind that the Naga political solution holds the key to the future of the Nagas and that they are the most significant stakeholders and everyone has a significant role to play.
The Speaker also spoke on the existence of an opposition-less government and said how the different parties have come together to form a stable government. “Development will not continue if we do not have a stable government; justice will not prevail; and there will be no solution without stability. We therefore need to seek stability,” he said.
He concluded by saying that we need to give thanks, keep great visions, and ask for blessings for the upliftment of the young people.
Ten clubs from Ungma village participated in the programme and each of them presented a cultural item. The Ungma Village council acknowledged all invitees and all the participants for their presence and efforts in making the festival grand and exciting. The programme was followed by a community Tsüngrenmong feast.
