Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today inspected the ongoing preparations for the upcoming 25th Hornbill Festival 2024 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. Rio reviewed the construction of the Bamboo Pavilion, the main arena, and other permanent structures at Kisama.

Nagaland Industries & Commerce Advisor, Hekani Jakhalu, briefed the Chief Minister on the physical progress of the work at the Bamboo Pavilion. Meanwhile, state tourism officials informed that preparations are in full swing, with work being carried out in two shifts, 24 hours a day.

Earlier, a meeting was held at Rhododendron Hall, Police Complex, Chümoukedima, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to review the overall progress of the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival 2024. All the respective heads of departments (HoDs) attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Rio suggested improvements for enhancing the venue’s aesthetic appeal, food arrangements, and other aspects of the festival preparations. He confirmed that the inauguration of various projects will proceed as scheduled.
Rio also launched a commemorative coin marking the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival, along with the Hornbill Festival booklet.

Advisor to the CM, Abu Metha, highlighted the events scheduled for the Hornbill Festival. He also outlined the musical bands participating in the Hornbill Music Festival, which runs parallel to the main festival.

Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang addressed the condition of the national highway, acknowledging that natural calamities are beyond control. However, he urged the concerned department to ensure that the road is made viable before the festival.

Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along provided an overview of the Tourism Hornbill Festival mobile application, which is set to be launched shortly.

Chief Secretary J Alam gave an overview of various preparations for the Hornbill Festival at Kisama, including key logistics such as roads, water, and power supply. He also highlighted the preparatory actions being taken to ensure seamless transport operations during the festival.

After the meeting, the Chief Secretary, along with the Home Commissioner and other officials, visited the airport and railway station, where work is in progress.
