Dimapur, September 3 (MExN): The inaugural programme for the three-day Manthan: Northeast Region Skill & Entrepreneurship Conclave was organised at the Mahapurush Sankardev, Auditorium, Guwahati, Assam on September 1. It was held as a follow-up to the special skill initiatives for the North East States under the theme “Transforming Lives, Building Futures-Skilled Development and Entrepreneurship in Northeast.”
A press release received here stated that speaking on the occasion, Advisor for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Labour & Excise, Government of Nagaland, Moatoshi Longkumers highlighted the different activities of the department.
The advisor mentioned that geographically Nagaland being a hilly terrain with villages located in remote places, and challenging accessibility and connectivity can somehow be overcome through the application of drone technologies. To that end, he requested the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India to establish a School of Drone Technology in the State, to which, Ministry expressed “their commitment in assisting the establishing of the school in Nagaland through the Skill Ministry’s programme.”
He lamented on the reliance on government jobs in Nagaland and stated that “due to the saturation of these jobs coupled with the lack of industrial activities, and the limited presence of organized private sectors in the state, employment opportunities for unemployed youths have been hampered.” With the alarming rise in unemployment, entrepreneurship is viewed as a solution to address and mitigate this issue in the State, he stated.
Moatoshi also expressed his happiness to witness the participation of several entrepreneurs from Nagaland showcasing their products in the exhibition under the patronage of IIE, Guwahati.
Jasmina Zeliang from Nagaland was honoured with award of excellence in entrepreneurship by the Ministry during the event.
Earlier, the conclave was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar along with Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, MoS for Education and External Affairs.
