Peru to be ‘Partner Country’ for 25th Edition of Hornbill Festival

New Delhi, November 21 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and the Ambassador of Peru to India, Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, announced in New Delhi that Peru will be a ‘Partner Country’ for the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival, which starts on December 1.

The Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues including both the Deputy Chief Ministers had a meeting with the Ambassador of Peru at New Delhi and made the formal announcement, stated a press release issued by PRO, New Delhi.

With this announcement, Peru becomes the third country to Partner with the Nagaland Government at the Hornbill Festival following the earlier announcements of Wales and Japan partnering with the Nagaland Government.

The Peru Ambassador informed that artists, cultural performers and dancers from the South American country are expected to participate in various events of the festival. Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio welcomed the participation of Peru at the forthcoming festival and expressed confidence that the partnership would bring the two countries closer, strengthen bilateral ties and enhance people-to-people contact. 

He appreciated the efforts of the Ambassador in making the partnership a reality and conveyed that Nagaland is looking forward to welcoming the Peru delegation to the “Festival of Festivals”.
