DIMAPUR, SEP 12 (NPN): The newly formed Political Affairs Mission (PAM) of the NPF has called upon all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to unite in order to facilitate in bringing about ‘one agreement, one solution’ to the protracted Naga political issue.
PAM also appealed to both NSCN (I-M) and the Working Committee of the NNPGs to “welcome each other with open arms as brothers” and to “stick to what has been agreed upon in the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 and the Agreed Position signed on November 17, 2017.”
This was conveyed by PAM after the consultative meeting with the 7 NNPGs at Father’s House Church, Chumukedima which was chaired by opposition leader and chairman of PAM, TR Zeliang.
At the meeting, PAM members explained that the motive of withdrawing from the Joint Legislators Forum (JLF) on Naga political issue was not to walk away from the mission of being a facilitator but rather to allow both PDA legislature party and NPF legislature party to work independently.
PAM reiterated that the NPF stood for an inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution and that it would continue to promote peace and unity within the various NPGs while facilitating in opening doors for peaceful conclusion of the Naga issue with the Centre in letter and spirit. Urging the NNPGs to revisit the ‘Covenant of Naga Reconciliation’ signed at Chiangmai, Thailand and to unite with other NPGs, PAM opined that there should be only one accord between the NPGs and the Government of India since the mission of all concern was also one.
Meanwhile, PAM said that NNPGs during the meeting conveyed that the group was open for reconciliation, at the same time affirmed that it had no objection to round table talks with any group. NNPGs said it had maintained openness in all its dealings before the Naga people and expressed optimism that final inking to the peace talks would take place very soon for permanent peace and progress.
