Following the disruption of vehicular movement due to recent sinking/damage of the National Highway (NH)-702 of Mon-Namtola road, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare P Paiwang Konyak on Tuesday inspected the site and urged the NH department to maintain the alternate route (via Mon Village) leading to Mon headquarter and restore the currently damaged road for light vehicular movements.
As emergency restoration has been processed by NHIDCL and the NH-702 has been taken over by the agency, the Minister said it should urgently take up the special maintenance of the Mon-Tizit National Highway (NH) including widening of road in the sinking area. This is pertinent considering the vulnerability of the soil to further damage due to incessant rainfall, he maintained.
Meanwhile Konyak urged the citizens to bear with the inconveniences caused during this monsoon session, assuring that all efforts are on to restore the road. The Minister was accompanied by a team of officials from National Highways, NHIDCL (National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd), district and police administration during the inspection.
