NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) army officers withdraw support to Prez

DIMAPUR, APRIL 12 (MExN): Naga Army officers of the NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) have declared “not to serve” under the leadership of the President, Yung Aung but “continue to serve the national service under the leadership of General Kumchok, Commander In Chief and Lt General Thungching, Deputy Commander In Chief of the Naga Army,”

This decision was made after “high ranking Naga Army officers held a meeting on April 8, 2023 at GHQ,” informed a press release from Major General Langnyei Konyak, Naga Army, NSCN/GPRN.

The press release said that from April 2012 onwards the NSCN/GPRN entered into a ceasefire agreement with the Government of Myanmar, during which time the Government of Mayanmar had sanctioned several developmental activities “including 45 number of vehicle licenses.” “But all those developmental activities have gone without the knowledge of the Naga Army,” it alleged.

It further stated that after the demise of SS Khaplang, former Chairman of the NSCN (K) in 2017, the “administration system of the NSCN/GPRN has been decayed/deteriorated.”

It alleged that a “huge number of arms and ammunition which have been dumped in the armory without the knowledge of any officer have been snatched away by the Myanmar Army.” Further, it accused the present administration of misappropriating the financial management system.

Meanwhile, the statement claimed that “foreign diplomacy and foreign aid was not disclosed to the Naga Army officers.”

It also alleged of “meetings with other factions without the knowledge and consultation of Naga Army officers.”

It further stated that Naga Army officers were not allowed to hold any meetings or conferences till 2023.

It claimed that while “several attempts were made by the 16 tribes of western Naga peoples including the State Government to meet the President of the NSCN/GPRN, he did not allow them to meet him by ignoring the humble request made by the Naga peoples.”

“The people of Eastern Nagaland are in dilemma by bringing different Christian denominations which is resulting in misunderstanding among themselves,” the statement added.

It further stated that NSCN/GPRN members were expelled without trial or statement from the membership of the council without the knowledge and consultation of the council members.
