Wokha | April 6
The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) campaign programme for the general election to the 18th Lok Sabha was held at Lotha Hoho Conference Hall, Wokha on April 5. The campaign was led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Chingwang Konyak Chairman PDA & President NDPP Nagaland, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, PDA Consensus Candidate Dr Chumben Murry and MLA YM Humtsoe.
Chingwang Konyak, in his speech stated that “more than the assembly, we need highly qualified and fit representative in the parliament. And since we have only one seat, Dr Chumben Murry as a founding member of NDPP with great experience and qualifications stands fit to represent the Nagas.”
“Keeping in mind, the challenges of developing the resources, it is important to align with the ruling party,” he added while appealing the citizens of Wokha to extend their support to Dr Chumben Murry.
Addressing on the issue of ENPO’s decision of non-participation in the Lok Sabha Election, Konyak stated that “unlike the rest of the Nagas, the Eastern Nagas lack behind educationally, economically and developmentally, for which they need a separate state or territory for better administration and that has been the hope of the ENPO, unfortunately there has been no positive outcome so far.”
Also mentioning about the upcoming Municipal Town Election, Konyak maintained that “if this trend of non-cooperation continues, it is going to be a huge setback for the people as funds meant for developments of towns will not be allocated.”
Stating that “non-participation in the election will not yield any positive outcome,” he appealed to the “people to have a meeting with the state Government and chart out an amicable solution for the better upliftment of the region.”
