Team inspect roads in Phesama, Kigwema, Viswema, Jakhama and Khuzama
Kohima, May 29 (MExN): The Kohima District Administration along with SAYO, Advisor Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha and Advisor Youth Resource Zale Neikha inspected the ongoing existing road maintenance and repairing works between Kohima to Khuzama on May 28. According to a DIPR report, Advisor Medo Yhokha called upon the National Highway Infrastructure and Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and Fortune Group to extend their full support and put all efforts with the available machineries and manpower into force before any eventualities take place and further expressed hope to see the “improvement within a week.”
Advisor Zale Neikha thanked the construction firms for giving assurance to begin their work immediately which was left unattended for many years where public are facing immense problems. He requested them not to only fill up the potholes but to repair the Kimipfüphe Bridge as early as possible.
Inspecting the roads, DC Kohima Gregory Thejawelie asked the Fortune Group to mobilize the machineries immediately at the ongoing road maintenance and repairing work and culvert construction between Viswema to Khuzama. Stating that the road is not only the lifeline of southern Angami area but also for the people of Phek, Kiphire districts and Manipur state as well, he directed the General Manager of Fortune Group to address the most critical areas on priority and also clear off the culverts and drainages at the earliest.
The DC encouraged the construction group to co-operate with the community and work together though certain challenges might be faced since the monsoon has started and said, “If we work collectively, we can do to the maximum.”
He requested the group manager to prepare their work schedule by Monday (May 30) and to submit it to DC Office and accordingly to start working on daily basis continuously as the road condition is becoming deplorable. He also suggested the group to inform the area administrative officer if they come across any individual or community obstructing the ongoing works and urged them to work in positive way.
The DC requested the concern villages plying on this road to extend full cooperation and participation for the welfare of people.
In addition, DC also mentioned that some of the concerned area people were found to be dumping loose earth along the side of the road, to which he asked them to stop immediately in order to avoid drainages clogging. He asked the vehicle servicing owners to streamline the outlet of water without letting it out into the roads directly and maintain the surface of the road and further informed that appropriate action will be initiated against the violators.
Revenue Officer, Kohima Kelevituo Nisa NCS urged the Fortune Group to coordinate with the District Administration and the community leaders and SAPO. He conveyed that all heads of the area people has assured to give full support for the maintenance and repairing of the existing roads. SAYO has assured to arrange volunteers to give manpower to assist in supervising the works with full cooperation, it stated.
The team has inspected the roads of Phesama, Kigwema, Viswema, Jakhama and Khuzama.
