Kohma, May 22 (MExN): The Department of Power Nagaland (DoPN) has convened an interactive meeting on May 25 at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur, to discuss the development of the 186 MW Dikhu Hydro Electric Power (HEP) Project, which touches Longleng, Mon, and Mokokchung districts.

A circular from the DoPN has invited the presidents and colleagues of the Phom Students’ Conference Longleng, the Kohima Phom Students’ Union, the Dimapur Phom Students’ Union, and the Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur, to the meeting.

The DoPN maintained that the Dikhu HEP Project is a long-cherished dream for the Naga people and noted that successful development of the project would bring immense socioeconomic benefits not only to the project area villages but also to the State as a whole.

The department emphasised that 90% of the state’s power requirements are currently imported and this makes it crucial for all stakeholders to collaborate and find solutions to successfully develop the hydro project for a better future.
