Nagaland: Law students to acquire knowledge of Police Department

Kohima, May 10 (MExN): A brief introduction programme was organised by the Kohima Law College at the college conference Hall on Thursday in view of the outgoing (Final) LL.B students of Kohima Law college to be attached in Police Station. 

The Kohima police in a press release stated that as a part of their learning and better understanding of functioning of Police Department especially at the field level Sanction of Police Station, traffic etc the 62 final LL.B students will be attached to various Police Station including Traffic Police Station, SP’s office Kohima for a period of 7 days from May 9 to 15. 

The meeting was chaired by Kezhokhoto Savi, Assistant Professor of Kohima Law College and followed by initiation of talks by Sandeep M Tamgadge, IPS ADGP (L&O) and Superintendent of Police Kohima. 

Sandeep M Tamgadge, IPS ADGP (L&O) stated on the occasion, the basic components of Law and Police force, types of Law and initiation of criminal laws. He stated on the functions of various ranks and files of Police officers and also highlighted the working system of Police Headquarters and Police station. 

Bharat Laxman, IPS Superintendent of Police, Kohima highlighted the attachment schedule of 62 LL.B students where they will be divided into 5 groups. A total of 5 nodal officers will be assigned for each group. He challenged the students to learn and understand the Police-Lawyer relationship in this attachment period to improve and bring changes in the future and also the attitude of our general public towards law. 

The Principal Kohima Law College, Limaakum Jamir acknowledged the coordination and cooperation of Police department and also stated that more programmes will be observed in the future to acquaint the students about the working relationship of Law department and Police force. 

A total of 62 outgoing LL.B students along with teachers and faculties attended the programme.
