A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Nagaland government and Patanjali Foods Ltd today in Kohima for the development and area expansion under oil palm cultivation and processing for Zone-II (Mokokchung, Longleng and Mon districts) of Nagaland under National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP).
The MoU was signed at the Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima. From state government, it was represented by M Ben Yanthan, Director of Agriculture, Nagaland while from Patanjali Foods Ltd (Formerly known as Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd), was represented by Subhas Bhattacharjee, Head-NE Region, Oil Palm.
“Today’s MoU signing with Govt of Nagaland will certainly bring a big boost for the oil palm growers in the state of Nagaland and the region,” according to Patanjali Foods Ltd.
Patanjali Foods Ltd (PFL), having a turnover of more than Rs. 24,000 Cr during fiscal 2021-22 is allotted Zone II where there is a wide scope for oil palm plantation in the state against an EOI released by the Department recently.
Patanjali Foods Ltd is already working in the states of Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Tripura in the North East.
During August 2022, PFL has laid the foundation stone of setting up an oil mill in East Siang district at Niglok, Arunachal Pradesh. Another oil mill is proposed to come up in Lepah village in Langthlai district of Mizoram.
PFL has got two zones in Assam and another two zones in Tripura to take forward the oil mission.
PFL has also initiated setting up oil palm FPCs in the State of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh under the scheme of Government of India.
