Tuensang, November 27 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan made his official visit to Tuensang District on November 26 and held a meeting with the Head of the Department and civil society organisations of Tuensang town at DC Conference Hall, Tuensang.
The Governor expressed his delight to come to the historical district known as “Land of Culture” saying that had been his desire to visit and interact with the people of Tuensang, stated a DIPR report.
He was pleased to meet the “brave and progressive people of Tuensang,” as “Tuensang District have to endure hardship and also trying to keep pace with social – economic development happened within a short span of time.”
He expressed his happiness to know the progress of education over the last few years where literacy rate of the district was only 52.15% in 2001, where as in 2011 it made a huge leap to reach the figure of 73.70%. He added that with the efforts of the Central and State Government the economic disparity will be addressed with effective development strategies.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted that despite agriculture being one of the predominant occupations of the state, it comprises of mostly only subsistence farmers, thus the Agri. and Allied Department should ensure farmer based schemes like PM Kisan Scheme, Soil Health Card Scheme and Kisan Credit card are made accessible to the farmers. Speaking on the Health Sector, the Governor stressed on the importance of health care in the district, where he encouraged the Department to implement Health Schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana and Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. He also mentioned the importance of Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan which aims to eradicate Tuberculosis by 2025.
The Governor urged the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure JalJeevan Mission scheme benefiting every citizen in the district. He also added that Banking is another basic service that cannot be ignored where every eligible citizen should have Jan Dhan account, especially women, in order to avail all the banking facilities.
The Governor called upon the people of Tuensang to actively support the raising issues of drug menace where it poses a threat to the Younger generations.
During the programme Departmental Activities was presented by PHED, DRDA, CMO and DAO. The welcome address was delivered by DC Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa and a short speech was made by MLA and Chairman DPDB Tuensang, Lima Onen Chang. Later the Governor held a security co-ordinate meeting with the security personnel.
