Nagaland Governor stresses on health, infra and economic growth during Longleng visit

Longleng, October 19 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, made an official visit to Longleng district, addressing the district administration, heads of departments (HoDs), and civil society organizations during a programme held at the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Hall.

In his speech, the Governor expressed his pleasure in visiting Longleng, highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering growth, prosperity, and well-being for all citizens. He underscored the importance of immediate action in crucial areas such as healthcare, water, sanitation, roads, and banking.

The Governor stressed the need to improve healthcare facilities, asserting that a healthy population is the foundation of a thriving community. He called for stakeholders to enhance healthcare services and emphasized that access to clean water and sanitation is a fundamental right. The Governor urged the concerned departments to accelerate the implementation of schemes like the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide safe drinking water to every household.

Transportation and banking services were also highlighted as essential to the district’s development. Governor Ganesan emphasized that good infrastructure and financial services are key to economic empowerment. He encouraged citizens to abide by the law and cooperate with the government, both at the state and central levels.

The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Longleng, who delivered the welcome address and presented an overview of the district’s development proposals. Several departments, including Education, Public Works (Roads & Bridges), State Bank of India (SBI) Longleng branch, the Medical Department, and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), provided updates on their activities.

The President of the Phom People’s Council also delivered a brief speech during the event, which concluded with closing remarks by the Deputy Commissioner.
