Out of 5083 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people include 2386 cases from the armed forces/police, 1404 returnees, 317 frontline workers and 976 traced contacts.
Meanwhile, the Health department Sunday issued a ‘public advisory’ informing that there had been a surge in cases across the state. After the positivity rate had fallen to 4% during August 22 to 29, there was an increase of 6% during August 31 to September 4, which further went up to 11% during September 5 to 11.
It said that majority of positive cases were among males (83%) in the age group of 30-44 years (45%) and 15-29 years (37%).
Apart from armed forces, the department said that the recent surge was increasingly seen among the younger age group.

Meanwhile, the Health department appealed all to follow the 3 Ws– Wear mask, Wash hands, Watch distance and to avoid 3Cs– Crowded places, Close contact setting and Closed and enclosed spaces.
