The All India Congress Committee (AICC) Media and Publicity Department Chairperson, Pawan Khera today said that it was Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who brought BJP to Nagaland. Addressing a press conference here today at Congress Bhavan, he alleged that the unfinished building of the High Court in Nagaland “is the model of Rio and Modi.”

Khera appealed the voters of Nagaland to vote wisely and told the people to close their eyes for 30 seconds, and think of the unfulfilled promises made by the present dispensation. He further alleged that the Union Home Minister’s announcement to create a Frontier Naga Territory for Eastern Nagaland was another false promise just to get vote for the BJP in the ensuing assembly election.

He alleged that they tried on division and conflict, and “therefore, wherever they go, they create conflict, division.” Referring to agencies like the ED and CBI, he alleged that “the remote control is with Modi and Amit Shah. Whenever they press the button, the ED and CBI close their eyes.”

Khera further alleged that the Nagaland Chief Minister “is completely compromising the hands of Delhi, Amit Shah and Modi.” “Do not vote for a puppet. Don’t vote for those who control the puppet. Vote for Congress,” Khera said.

Khera claimed that the Congress has a very constructive manifesto, adding that the manifesto was arrived upon by a broad-based discussion with different citizen groups, intellectuals and people whose hearts beat for Nagaland.

He continued that every single word written in manifesto comes from people who really think for Nagaland. “We don’t believe in remote control politics. We don’t believe in remote control governance the way BJP does,” he said.

On being asked about the main agenda of the Congress party for the Nagaland polls 2023, he said “Our top agenda is the youth, who needs job, clean administration.” “We cannot have corruption. The kind of corruption that we see in the state, we cannot allow that,” he said. Our agenda is very simple. It has to be a pro-people government, he added.

In press hand out at the press conference, the Congress stated that the “corrupt” Nagaland State Government is “hand in glove with the BJP’s malafide intent towards Nagaland.”

Congress stated that the entire Naga people were crying for a solution before election, but the Central leadership “never bothered.” “Now, all they have to offer the trusting people of Nagaland is more and more lies,” the party claimed.

It further alleged that while the Nagaland CM brought BJP to Nagaland, the BJP has now brought the LJP. It claimed that the LJP has now given tickets to the MLAs rejected by the NDPP. “If together they get more seats than NDPP then they want to have a BJP Chief Minister,” it claimed

Alleging that last 20 years of rule by the NDPP, NPF and BJP had looted the state, the Congress stated it is time for the people to realize that misappropriated money meant for the people should have been used to build roads, power plants, water supply projects etc.

“They will spend about a thousand crores for buying the votes and next five years loot thousands of crores,” the Congress alleged. “The time has come for the people of Nagaland that they won’t allow NDPP- BJP government to take their trust for a right,” it stated.
