The BJP came under further criticism in another Dimapur Municipal Council ward. Independent candidate from the reserved Ward-7, Tolika K Tsuqu, on June 23, accused the BJP of harassing residents of the colony.

She told the media that youths, alleged to be BJP supporters and not of the ward, have been continually resorting to rowdy behaviour disturbing the peace in the colony. She made the allegation as she led a brief procession, on Sunday afternoon, in the colony, reportedly to restore the confidence of her supporters. She added that the procession was with permission from the election authority.

According to Tsuqu, 70-80 percent of the residents in the colony are from non-Naga minority communities, who become soft targets of threat and intimidation.

She charged the alleged BJP youths of not only harassing the residents but also intentionally resorting to provocative action.

“They start blaring horns when they go pass my residence as if they are trying to provoke us. They are even using catapults and intimidating the residents,” she held, while stating the action was uncalled for. “If they continue with the harassment, we will be compelled to file a formal complaint,” she said.
