Mokokchung, February 11 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Planning Development Board (DPDB) meeting discussed the issue of traffic congestion in Mokokchung town and recommended a proper road mapping to ease the same.
The house recommended the Urban Development Office to come up with a proper road map and the DPDB Chairman and NLA Speaker Shariangain Longkumer chairman also recommended setting up of a committee under MMC Mokokchung to look into the possibilities of road widening and expansion and another committee under SP Mokokchung, to work out modalities and plans for parking arrangement.
As per a DIPR report, the meeting was held on February 10 through video conference and the members present included Minister, PWD (Housing & Mechanical), Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor Industries & Commerce, NIDC, Imnatiba, MLA, Imkong L Imchen, ADC Mokokchung, SP Mokokchung, Administrative Officers and District heads and members from civil organizations.
The house also decided to set up a committee to work on translation of the Village Council Act, Nagaland into the Ao language so as to ensure empowerment and greater understanding of the Act for the village administration.
While stressing on the importance of disseminating information regarding all the schemes and projects, both central and state, being implemented in the district, all the implementing departments were requested to report the status in the next DPDB meeting.
The house further discussed augmentation of water supply to Mokokchung Town and the proposal submitted by Er Yanger, PHED, Mokokchung in that regard was approved and forwarded to higher authority.
As put up by the Mokokchung district Dairy Farmers, to develop the dairy activities in the district, the house also discussed setting up of a committee under the chairmanship of chairman/vice chairman DPDB with Dr Simon, representative from the district Veterinary Office as member.
Construction of P Shilu Ao Park, Mokokchung was also discussed in the meeting and the house directed the Urban Development Officer to bring out a detailed report on the expenditure and fund requirement.
ADC Tuli, Imsongmeren reported on the dilapidated condition of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tuli. He was asked to prepare and submit a detailed status of the school to the chairman, DPDB for further steps. The house also approved the Cassava Cultivation Project at Ungma village to be sent to the concerned department for further necessary steps. The change of nomenclature of Oriental School to Bridges Academy, Changtongya was also approved. In the meeting, the house approved the registration of the two new societies, namely Mokokchung Sumi Community and Asem Tsuri Rogo Society, Lirmen village.
