Mishilimi celebrates 100 years of Christianity

DIMAPUR, December 22: Mishilimi village commemorated 100 years of Christianity in a programme “Mishilimi Christian Centenary (1921-2021)” on the theme “proclaim the liberation (Isaiah 61:1-4)” at old Mishilimi village ground on Tuesday.

The main speakers of the celebration were ES SABAK, Rev. Hotokhu P. Zhimomi, NCRC Sumi Pughoboto ES, Rev. Vitoka Kinimi and Chisholimi Baptist Church pastor, Rev. Henito Sheqi.


In a greeting, Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA 13 A/C Pughoboto urged upon the gathering to move ahead with creative ideas and guide each other towards accomplishing dreams.

During the programme, jubilee souvenir was released by Prayer and Healing Centre, Ayinato pastor, Rev. Akhato Sheqi Swu, jubilee choir presented special songs, Tokugha Baptist Church pastor, Ghoshito G. Swu led a prayer remembering pioneers who were no more while Rev. Vitoshe Wotsa led the prayer for villagers and in-laws.

The jubilee monolith was unveiled by Rev. Hotokhu P. Zhimomi, Sumi Baptist Church pastor, Tseminyu, Akashito Wotsa led the function, main jubilee celebration was led by MYBC pastor Tovishe Shohe while S. Toshiho Sheqi recorded the follow-up function.

Akhalu Sheqi, Akukau, Mishilimi delivered a welcome address and presentation was led by Hosheli Q Wotsa, while associate pastor women MBC, Nipatoli Achumi read the Bible and MBC ex-pastor Yetokhu M. Wotsa led the morning benediction.

It may be mentioned that Christianity came to the village when late Pilitha travelled to Kohima for labor work and received Christ through Khulhou Angami (Khonoma) and was Baptized by evangelist Viliezu Rengma (Tseminyu Village) on December 21, 1921.

The centenary was attended by thousands of villagers from., in-laws and delegates inter-denominational neighbouring Churches.
