DIMAPUR , September 9 : In commemoration of 75th anniversary of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav), a coffee bar, “Coffee & Chill” was inaugurated under the initiative of district project officer (DPO), Longleng on September 7 at omega lodge, Longleng with ADC Longleng, D. Robin as special guest.
According to a DIPR report, D. Robin in his address appreciated the department and congratulated DPO Longleng, for his hard work.
He encouraged the people to pay a visit in their leisure time and taste the coffee which was grown in the district. Robin advised all the officers to work together for the benefit and welfare of the public so that they could conduct more programmes in coming days.
DPO Longleng, Kughalu Chishi asserted that this was a new venture in the district and informed that the department’s programme was aimed at encouraging local farmers to grow coffee in order to export and promote local entrepreneurs.
Longleng now has coffee equipment with the department promoting coffee plantation and has produced as much as 380 hectares of coffee till date, he informed.
He further assured that the district would be one of the coffee populated district with more and better production in the near future.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by LDA Chingnyei and vote of thanks was delivered by Phamphen Phom.
