Longkong Baptist Arogo (LBA) at Longkong village in Mokokchung district celebrated its centennial Jubilee under the theme, “Declare God’s Evolving Grace,” on January 7 and 8.
Rev Dr Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary, Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM); Rev Sentisashi Aier, Senior Pastor, Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo; R Imti Imsong, Pastor, Aoyimsen Baptist Arogo and Dr Pangernungba Kechu, Oriental Theological Seminary, Bade Dimapur were the speakers during the two day celebration.
On January 8, Rev Dr Mar Pongener spoke at the morning devotional service on the theme, “Declare God’s evolving grace,” basing on the bible verses Timothy 2: 1-2 and on the teachings of Paul. Expounding on salvation and God’s grace Dr Mar noted that it has been 150 years since the coming of Christianity but ‘why are we Nagas very complacent with our faith and our belief in God.’
According to him, to take part in the God’s evolving grace, one has to leave all evil aside and taste God’s grace. He said that the Nagas have been through a lot of trials and tribulations but God has ‘let us taste his grace which is why we are here today.’ Do not forget God’s grace for you have been saved by His grace; tell the world about God’s grace towards you, he said.
‘There will be trials and tribulation but God has his grace sufficient for us. As we celebrate this Centennial Jubilee let us declare God’s grace and live in His grace,’ he added.
Tongpang Ozüküm, Minister for PWD (Housing & Mechanical), in his greetings honoured those village elders who courageously accepted and embraced Christianity. He remarked that Longkong village has always been a prosperous and a close knitted village, where there is love, respect and unity.
He encouraged everyone by stating that the Jubilee is a time to make amends and promote peace, and urged the congregation to forgive and form bonds in the name of the Centennial Jubilee.
At the devotional service, the Centenary choir and Kohima Longkong Tamang Telungjem performed a song each while Libena Imsong presented the Centenary poem. Former Minister M Jongshi Jamir expressed words of gratitude while greetings were delivered by the Children of Pastor Lolenliba, Süngratsü; Longpa Baptist Arogo and Imtionen, Former Pastor LBA.
Earlier a Monolith stone commemorating the Centennial Jubilee was unveiled by Rev Dr Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary, ABAM Impur.
