DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 8 (MExN): Kuda Village ‘A’ Khel celebrated its 75th anniversary on November 7, 2024, with a Platinum Jubilee event held at the Jotsoma Community Hall.
The gathering began with a ceremonial unveiling of the jubilee monolith by Rev. Savito Nagi, President of the Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), alongside Eno Thejazelhou Peseyie, the youngest son of the late Dr. Üzelie Peseyie, who honored his father’s legacy by unveiling the pioneer’s monolith.
Nibu Nagi, proprietor of N.N. Nagi School and businessman, was the guest speaker. In his address, he recounted the history of Kuda Village ‘A’ Khel, reflecting on its growth and the spirit of unity and resilience that has sustained the community. He paid special tribute to Dr. Üzelie Peseyie, a pioneering figure among the Nagas and one of the first educated individuals from the area. Dr. Peseyie, who studied in Shillong and journeyed by foot from Kohima to Dimapur in his youth, played a foundational role in encouraging his fellow villagers to recognize economic opportunities in Dimapur, eventually leading to the establishment of the Jotsoma Farmer’s Cooperative Society in 1963.
Nibu Nagi emphasized the significance of the Platinum Jubilee as a lasting milestone, acknowledging the elders of Kuda ‘A’ Khel for their contributions to the village’s development and encouraging continued peace and unity.
The celebration was chaired by Vikie Nagi, Chairman of Kuda Village, with an invocation from Vizieto Nagi and a welcome address by Neingusie Nagi, Convener of the Planning Committee. Kelezhalie Nagi, Pastor of Seithekiema ‘A’ Baptist Church, released the Jubilee Souvenir, and greetings were shared by Head GB Thepfuko Nagi, Deacon Khrieselie Nakhro, and Assistant Commissioner Kelevituo Nisa from the Kohima Commissioner’s Office.
The event featured special performances by the youth of Kuda ‘A’ Khel and staff from N.N. Nagi School, and concluded with a vote of thanks from Khrienilie Nagi and a benediction from Professor Rokoneituo Nakhro. Attendees then gathered for a jubilant feast, closing the celebration on a note of community and fellowship.
