Thenucho lays foundation stone

Former home minister Thenucho Tunyi laid the foundation stone of Kikruma Local Ground in Phek district on May 4.
“Kikruma Local Ground have been dedicated for our generations to excel and glorify our God,” as inscribed in the foundation stone.
Speaking on the occasion, Tunyi said that the recent development of two-lane road from Kohima to Jessami has given lots of benefit to the people of Kikruma area. During the process of road cutting, he said, the need to fill the earth in the agriculture land has been felt at the location of Ruzaru, which is now turned into a playfield for the youth of the area for today and tomorrow.
“We want our youth to excel and glorify our God through sports,” he said.
Maintaining that sport has become an industry today, he said that it pave the way to communicate people to people while also building peace and harmony. He also stressed on the need to excel in the field of sports at the higher level to earn recognition from worldwide. “We as Christians want to preach the good news to all the people and sportspersons can play a very important role,” Tunyi said.
He thanked the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways under the ministership of Nitin Gadkari for the ongoing road construction works in Nagaland and across the country. Tunyi also lauded the contractors of Multi-builders company for their support towards the construction of this playground at Kikruma.
Kikruma Village Council chairman Thipuzhoyo Thira thanked all the land owners for making this playground possible.
Stating that many additional works require to be done, he sought the continuous support of each and every individual for meeting other amenities like rostrum, gallery, parking, basketball and volleyball court.
Kikruma Local ground construction committee convenor Mutsikhoyo Yhobu thanked Thenucho Tunyi and Sachopra Vero, (Retd) Secretary, Government of Nagaland for conceptualizing this local ground to promote the local talents in the field of sports. He also placed on record his appreciation to the concerned authority of 2 lane construction company and Kikruma village council.
Sachopra Vero, (Retd) Secretary, Government of Nagaland also briefed the gathering on the historic 1851 Kikruma- British Battle. Kikruma Youth Organization presented Kikruma anthem while North Kikruma village presented indigenous tune. The programme was led by Kikruma Village Council member Dzuvengoyo Puro while of vote of thanks was proposed by village council member Veto Kezo.
