With a cyclonic circulation over the Northeast Assam, states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to experience isolated very heavy rainfall on July 1 and 3. 

Update on Sunday night by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also forecasted widespread rainfall over the region until July 7 and issued an ‘Orange’ alert for all NE states until July 4. There was ‘Red’ (take action) alert for Arunachal Pradesh on July 1. 

Meanwhile, the district-wise weather warning provided by the IMD’s Met Centre Kohima on June 30 informed that Kiphire, Phek, and Tuensang are likely to experience the most rain among the districts in Nagaland. For these three districts, the Met Centre Kohima issued an ‘Orange’ alert from July 1-4, with the exception of a ‘No Warning’ Green alert for Phek on July 3.

On July 1, the centre also designated an ‘Orange’ alert for the districts of Mokokchung, Mon, and Wokha. Other districts may receive either ‘Yellow’ or ‘Green’ alerts.

In the update, both Noklak and Shamator are included under Tuensang.
