The 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival 2024, which concluded on December 10, saw a total of 205,968 visitors at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
This marks a more than 33% increase in footfall compared to 2023.
According to the official visitor statistics provided by Toka E Tuccumi, Joint Director of the Department of Tourism, the 2024 edition attracted 2,527 foreign tourists and 56,217 domestic tourists.
This represents an increase from the 2,108 foreign tourists and 37,089 domestic visitors recorded in 2023.
Besides, attendance from local tourists in Nagaland surged from 114,860 in 2023 to 147,224 in 2024.
However, the figure is still below the total footfall recorded in 2019 (2.82 lakh) and 2018 (2.51 lakh).
Meanwhile, the final day of the festival, December 10, saw the highest single-day footfall of 32,081 visitors, comprising 152 foreign tourists, 8,113 domestic tourists, and 23,816 local tourists from Nagaland.
The day-wise breakdown of visitor numbers is as follows: Day 1- 23,910; Day 2- 17,588; Day 3- 16,087; Day 4- 14,502; Day 5- 14,553; Day 6- 14,856; Day 7- 20,535; Day 8- 26,274; Day 9- 25,582; and Day 10- 32,081.
Records available with The Morung Express indicated that attendance was highest in 2019 at 282,811 visitors including 3,015 and 55,558 foreign and domestic tourists, respectively, while the rest, 224,212, were locals.
