DIMAPUR, SEP 18 (NPN) : Health minister S Pangnyu Phom Friday announced that the state government on September 15, 2020 had signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) for establishment of a new medical college in Mon.
Announcing this on twitter, Phom expressed gratitude to the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan for his approval and sanctioning of the Institute to cater to the needs of remote and underserved areas and to promote access to quality healthcare. “We anticipate & call upon our people to extend fullest cooperation from all ends to make this project a dream come true for our own progress & benefit,” Phom said.
Pangnyu had earlier informed that the estimated cost of the medical college was pegged at Rs 323 crore. He said sanction was expected by November, after which the foundation stone would be laid in December and construction would begin immediately thereafter.
CM extends gratitude: State chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, has expressed gratitude to Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, for sanctioning the new Medical College in Mon. “This will go a long way in fulfilling the needs of the far flung districts of the state as well as other neighbouring States like Arunachal Pradesh and Assam,” stated a release.
The chief minister has further sought the Ministry’s assistance for putting in place a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model for professional and efficient management of the project.
Rio also extended an invitation to Dr.Vardhan to lay the foundation stone of the project, while thanking him for his continued support and cooperation in implementation of the project.
