Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): The Ceasefire Agreement between the GPRN/NSCN and Government of India (GoI) has been mutually extended with effect from April 28.
The extension will remain effective for a period of one year (April 17, 2023), according to a press release from the GPRN/NSCN Ministry of Information and Publicity.
The ceasefire agreement was extended to bring about lasting peace in the state with the involvement of Naga people, it said. The MIP informed that the GPRN/NSCN represented by Nitovi Aye, Supervisor, CFSB and Akato Yeptho, Secretary, CFSB and the GoI represented by Piyush Goyal, Addl Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have accordingly signed to give effect to the Ceasefire Agreement on April 19. “The Ceasefire extension is subjected to adherence to Ceasefire Ground Rules as has been mutually agreed and signed by both the party. Whereupon, the Ceasefire Ground Rules will be subjected to mutual review and amendment with the involvement of both the parties in case need arises,” the MIP release stated.
