Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Tuensang organized a felicitation programme for the successful HSLC and HSSLC students at the School Auditorium, GHSS, Tuensang on June 6.
In his welcome speech, Sunil Thakur, Senior Principal, GHSS, Tuensang while congratulating the passed-out students, thanked the teachers and former principal, S Imkongsenla Sangtam for their efforts in bringing fruitful result in the NBSE HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2022.
While heaping praises on the students and teachers, he made a special mention of the former principal. “I would like to congratulate her because she has created such an environment and such a good team of teachers and produced a very good result for the GHSS, Tuensang. So, madam, I’m so thankful to you. What platform you have left for me that will be very easy for me to run the school and prove my capability here easily,” he said.
Meanwhile, he read out the list of distinction holders in each subject and the teachers of the particular subjects and applauded the efficiency and sincerity of the teachers. He mentioned that the HSSLC results in both Arts and Science streams were exceptional however, the results of HSLC were disappointing but he stated that the results will definitely change.
Simi Kumari, who secured the 1st position in the Governor’s Award for the Government Higher Secondary students in science with 86.60 % stated that she received many good wishes and blessings for her “little” success.
“This small taste of success feels so good and addictive. The thought of realizing my dreams makes me ecstatic. I’m sure that with conviction and hard work everything is possible, dreams too. So, never feel left out irrespective of your scores because with time, marks and percentages will lose significance but what you become will always remain,” Simi shared.
She thanked her teachers, classmates and her father who she said was always there for her as a friend, a mother, a teacher, a brother, a sister, everything.
Khingkhasiba Sangtam, who secured 80% also shared few words on the occasion thanked the teaches for their tireless effort and dedication.
“This amazing accomplishment is just one step on your journey. Your ability to relentlessly search for solutions to problems and find innovative ways to improve the world is the key to this success. Thank you, friends, you have overcome so many obstacles to achieve this win. Your perseverance is an inspiration to everyone you meet, and you earned all the rewards coming your way,” he challenged.
Yongkong Chingmak, who secured the 3rd position in the Governor’s Award for the Government Higher Secondary students in science with 85.80% and Khieen K Khiamniungan with 81.81% were also felicitated.
Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, emphasized that marks in exam results is one criterion not all and told the students to first become a good human being. “You all made us proud, many distinctions are here and I hope now people will see this result and there will be a reversal of students going to private schools. They will now prefer government schools more than private schools,” he stated.
He encouraged the students by saying that, “We should whole journey. Think of the whole journey, rather than a point of the journey.” He also stated that the teachers are a gold mine, and the students must learn to extract from them.
S Imkongsenla Sangtam, former principal of GHSS, Tuensang and current principal of GHSS, Thangjam was also present to congratulate the students.
“I congratulate those students who have successfully passed the HSLC and HSSLC examinations, 2022 and for brining laurel to this institution. I also congratulate all those students who have done outstanding achievement by getting the Governor’s Award and all the distinction holders in different subjects. I would also like to express my congratulation to the science stream students and the faculty of the science department for achieving another milestone by getting 100% pass result,” she conveyed.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Keneile-ü Suokhrie, PGT, GHSS, Tuensang stated that there is a need of major revamping of the system, especially on the part of generalizing of failures and success on the teachers who work hard whole year.
“We can be anything to the students, be it a friend, a mentor or a guide however not everything but what about the government teachers who are everything to the students. Teachers are the least respected profession in Nagaland and they are the unsung heroes of our society,” she remarked.
Later, the vote of thanks was delivered by Apenro Khuvung, vice principal, GHSS, Tuensang and benediction was spoken by Weko-ü Khutso, PGT, GHSS, Tuensang.
