Geology Department commissions deep tube well for 3 villages

TSEMINYU, SEPTEMBER 11 (MExN): The Department of Geology and Mining commissioned a deep tube well at Kandinu, K Station and Yikhanu Village on September 9 at Kandinu Village Council Hall.

Khikiya Kath Rengma, Director of Geology and Mining during the program appealed to the community to conserve and preserve water bodies on priority. Citing the importance of water bodies and the need to make the environment healthy, he said that every citizen must take the moral responsibility to recharge water bodies to save the earth from water scarcity.

The 3 villages under Tseminyu District have faced acute water shortage for years and it was impossible for the villagers to bring water supply to the locality to meet the need of the rural people.

Tosang Chang, Deputy Director (Geologist), in her technical report cited that the water is tapped from about 150 feet below the ground and is tested as one of the best water bored in the area. She reminded the people that they are lucky and urged the community to utilise the facility well. 

The event was attended by village leaders and Church leaders from 6 Kandi villages. Er Kusoto Nguri, Joint Director, Geology and Mining; Joel Kath, President, Kandi Chairmen Forum and others were present during the programme.
