Marking the 6th day of the ‘Public Emergency’ declared by the ENPO since March 8, the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) organised a protest across all the district headquarters of Eastern Nagaland and burned effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Bhartiya Janata Party President JP Nadda.

At the main venue at the Bazar Police Point in Tuensang, the ENSF officials, including its president Chingmak Kumchuba, Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) talk team member Yingphe Konyak, members of its federating unit and students converge to protest.

During the same, the protesters held placards, shouted slogans and burned the effigies as a symbolic representation of their dissatisfaction with the government’s failure to fulfill their ‘promise’ and provide a ‘solution’ to their grievances.

“What happened to your offer of FNT?”; “No FNT No Election”; “Save Us from Miasma of Inequality”; You Are Elected to Serve the People of Eastern Nagaland” read some of the placards directed both at the Central Government as well as legislators from the region.

Thousands of people also gathered to express their support and participate in the agitation.

The protesters emphasised that the Government of India should remain committed to the arrangements made with them regarding the offer for the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) as promised by the former.

It must be noted here that the ENSF on Tuesday issued directives for the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and 20 Elected Members from the region to assemble in Tuensang HQ within 36 hours from March 12.
