YTC celebrates Platinum Jubilee

Shamator, October 25 (MExN): Every district in Nagaland should have one government college, State Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio maintained on Tuesday.  

Towards that end, the State Government is working towards setting up a government college in Shamator, he informed, gracing the 75 years Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) as the Special Guest at Shamator Headquarters on October 24. 

Being a new district, Rio also called upon the people of Shamator to unite and work together for the progress of the district, informed the State DIPR. 

He also various schemes of the government and  encouraged the gathering to avail the benefits and take advantage of free medical treatment under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS. The Chief Minister also briefed on micro loan scheme where citizens can get up loans upto Rs 50 lakh.

 

Meanwhile, Rio congratulated the YTC and the Yimkhiung people upon the celebration of the 75 years Platinum Jubilee under the theme, “Celebrating Togetherness.”

He also unveiled the Jubilee Monolith which was dedicated by Executive Secretary YBBA, Rev Dr SJ Akhum and also released the Jubilee Souvenir. 

The Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the NEFA Road connecting Sangphur to Soil colony Shamator constructed under SASCI (State) during 2023-24. 

At the celebration, greeting messages were delivered by President Tenyimi Union, Nagaland; President CNTC and President ENPO.  A short speech was also delivered by the Jubilee Host, Advisor, Youth Resources& Sports, S KeoshuYimkhiung. 

The inaugural function was chaired by Rev Hopong, Missionary and welcome address was delivered by Lakiumong, Convener, Planning Committee.

 

The keynote address was delivered by Throngso Yimkhiung, President YTC while the  Jubilee celebration was heralded by Yimkhiung GBs Ariakho. 

A special folk fusion item was presented by the TrüngTrüngThülün Fusion Boys and aspecial song by Tribal Squad.  Vote of thanks was delivered by Deventhong, Secretary, Planning Committee. Cultural troupes from Lontsunger, Sangphur, Yakor and Shiponger villages displayed cultural dances during the celebration.

Among others, Minister for Rural Development and SIRD Metsubo Jamir; Minister for Power, and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye; Advisor to Chief Minister, Dr Chumben Murry and other dignitaries attended the event. 

The hosts of the jubilee were Advisor for Youth Resources& Sports, Keoshu and Advisor for Fire & Emerge ncy Services, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Relief & Rehabilitation, S. Kiusemew.

The YTC was established in the year January 1, 1948 in Huker Village under the sessional chairmanship of late P Hopong Ang as the first President and K Zungkumas the first General Secretary, the DIPR report added.
