Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, JUL 19 (NPN): A patient admitted to Eden Medical Centre (EMC) on July 17 who was tested positive for COVID-19 through TrueNat was confirmed positive after the second test done through RT-PCR at BSL-2 Dimapur on Sunday.
Medical sources said after the test result, the District COVID-19 Task Force went to EMC and shifted the patient to the district COVID-19 hospital Dimapur.
Earlier, the patient who was to EMC on July 17, showed symptoms of COVID-19. Samples were then taken for testing in the TrueNat machine. After test was positive, EMC authorities immediately informed district authorities after which re-sampling was taken for confirmation through RT-PCR at BSL-2 on July 18. As precautionary measures, EMC authorities had on July 17, sealed off ICU and OPD.
It may be mentioned that TrueNat is a portable machine for testing virus and pathogens and easy to operate. Sources said that the precautionary test done at EMC through TrueNat was a right move for screening patients before admission, keeping in mind the safety of all especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. EMC sources, said that the TrueNat machine in the hospital was meant only for internal screening.
Husband of pharmacist tested positive: Meanwhile, district health officials informed that the husband of the female pharmacist at Chumoukedima (tested positive for COVID on July 15) also confirmed positive for COVID. Officials said the husband has been shifted to COVID Care Centre.
