DoSE Nagaland takes disciplinary action against 411 teachers for ‘unethical practices’

Kohima, June 9 (MExN): The Department of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland has taken various actions against 441 Government School teachers for the ‘unethical practices’ from October 2019 to June 2022, stated a notification from DoSE Principal Director Shanavas C. The unethical practices included engagement of proxy teachers, absenteeism and undertaking dual employment, it said, adding that disciplinary action was taken as per the provisions of the Nagaland Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1967.

Among others, 399 teachers across the State were penalised for keeping proxies and they were “directed to send photograph taken at school and send through email everyday for a period of nearly 1 year,” it informed.

A total of 17 teachers were also penalised for ‘undertaking dual employment’ and pay and allowances paid amounting to Rs 29,49,600 were recovered from them, it said. Three of them resigned from services while some of them had ‘Reduction to a lower stage in a Time Scale of Pay’ for certain period.

A total of 17 teachers were also terminated from services for submission of fake certificates. Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against 5 others for submitting fake HSLC Certificates.
Two teachers were also terminated from services for “Absenteeism/Not attended school” while another found keeping proxy had ‘Reduction to a lower stage in a Time Scale of Pay’ for failure to send email as directed.
