YAA begins indefinite agitation
SHAMATOR, FEBRUARY 3 (MExN): With the expiry of the 14days ultimatum served to the Department of School Education to address shortage of teachers in Yimkhiung jurisdiction, the YimkhiungAkheruArihako (YAA) began its indefinite agitation on February 2. Peaceful public rallies were carried out at YAA headquarter Shamator, Pungro and Chessore sub-divisions and in all the schools within Yimkhiung jurisdiction.
Leaders from Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC), YimkhiungWomens’ Organization (YWO), Pungro Area College Union (PACSU), Yimkhiung Youth Organization (YYO), Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF), village and town council officials, YAA federating units, students and thousands of denizens from different walks of life participated in the rally extending its unwavering solidarity towards the quest, a press release issued by media cell YAA informed.
Participants at the rallies held placards some of which read, “Don’t silence classrooms:Yimkhiung calls for teachers,”“Government ignorance is affecting our future,”“Yimkhiung’sfuture waits:Erase the teacher gap,” “Teachers teach the students what the book cannot teach the students.”
Solidarity messages were delivered by representatives from YTC,YWO, STPF,YYO, YLA and the purpose of the agitation was highlighted by YAA executives.

A memorandum was submitted to the Principal Director Directorate of School Education (DoSE) through the district and sub-division administrative heads wherein it was stated that “until and unless its demand for immediate deployment of requisite teachers is materialized, no admission will be undertake in its jurisdiction.” The YAA also cautioned that it will intensify their agitation in the event of failure to address their grievances.
