DIMAPUR, JUNE 10 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has questioned the Nagaland Department of School Education (DoSE) on an advertisement issued by the department on My 30 regarding recruitment of Hindi graduate teachers.
The RPP questioned that for the post requirement of 58 Hindi graduate teachers shouldn’t the exam be first conducted only for qualified indigenous Inhabitants who are Hindi graduates/post graduates with B.Ed. “There’re a good many Nagas who have the requisite qualification and incase of shortfall after the initial recruitment, the all-India open advertisement could have been issued by the department,” it said.
The RPP pointed out that as per the advertisement “preference will be given to local candidates.” This however, the RPP said is the “crux of the problem plaguing the state.” “How is this preference going to be worked out? Or is there a fixed quota reserved for the Indigenous candidates?” the party questioned. It further said that this is “simply another word for khushi-khushi or departmental manipulation which is totally unacceptable.”
It further asked what the mode of selection is and queried if it is written examination and interview, will the results be made public through print media for transparency. It further asked whether the correct answers will be published so as to help the candidates self-evaluate and compare with the marks published.
The party said that unless the recommendations of the RPP are taken into consideration and the “faulty advertisement” is restructured, “there’s a high chance that aggrieved candidates from outside the state – candidates with higher marks scored but denied selection due to the preference policy, will take the DoSE to court.”
“The DoSE is already plagued by so many litigations hampering the future of education in the state and avoiding another possible litigation should be considered,” it advised.
The RPP meanwhile said that it is “gratifying to know that the DoSE has taken penal action against 441 government teachers found engaged in proxy teaching, dual service and absenteeism, including terminating the service of 18 teachers.”
While these steps are appreciable, the party urged the department to tackle the issue of so-called ‘attachment’ of teachers to VIP/SDEOs/DEOs and the PD system.
