CWS seals DIET Tuensang offices

The Chang Wedoshi Setshang (CWS), the apex body of the Chang students, sealed the offices of the District Institution of Education and Training (DIET) Tuensang on June 13.

The Chang Students’ Conference earlier on May 12 served an ultimatum to the Commissioner, Nagaland in regards to the acquisition of land for relocation of the DIET at Tuensang within 15 days from the date of the ultimatum served.

Pongsu, President and C Khangyang, Assistant General Secretary of the CWS stated that, “The Government of Nagaland, Department of SCERT and the land owners witnessed by Chang Students’ Conference and Village Council, Chongpho Khel, Tuensang village had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the relocation of DIET at Tuensang first on June 27, 2017; second on May 8, 2018, third on September 8, 2019; and fourth on March 16, 2022.”

They however lamented that the government and the department have not made the required payment for the proposed site.

According to the statement, the work order was already issued on March 27, 2015 to M/S K Venuh Construction for constructing the main institute building, principal’s quarter and chain link fencing and another work order to Neibou Rio for constructing men’s and women’s hostels and Grade II staff quarters.

“Due to the failure on the part of the government to purchase the proposed site for the relocation of DIET, Tuensang, it has halted developmental activities worth Rs 9,37,56000 (approx). We will wait for government’s response till June 14, and if there is no positive reply from their side we will go on with the next phase of the agitation,” the CWS cautioned.

The work details for the construction of the DIET, Tuensang included the main building (ground floor, first floor and second floor of 1 number each), men’s and women’s hostel (ground floor and first floor 2 numbers each), principal’s quarter, Grade II staff quarter (ground floor and first floor 1 number each), Grade IV staff quarter (ground floor and first floor 1 number each) and chain link fencing (441 meters).
